Our Team

The origins of H+H Fire go back to 1981, when the founder, Glenn Horton joined the Essex Fire Brigade.  During his career as a fire officer Glenn served in a number of postings including operations, training and fire prevention.

In 2000 Glenn was awarded Chartered Fire Engineer status by the Institute of Fire Engineers, at the time of his application there being only 13 registered worldwide.

In 2009 Glenn started H+H Fire and quickly gained work on some prestigious projects. H+H Fire have continued to apply the same high technical standards that Glenn has espoused throughout his career in fire engineering. Glenn has built a team of highly skilled and dedicated fire engineers to support our clients, in the UK and elsewhere using the latest tools and techniques.

Lauren began work directly after graduating with a Fire Engineering degree from Leeds University in 2009. Lauren has since been exposed to many high profile, multi-disciplinary projects. Through Lauren’s excellent knowledge on various aspects of Fire Engineering, she has played a pivotal role in securing regulatory approval on the projects she has been involved with.

Lauren has experience in many sectors with regard to Fire Engineering including Residential, Commercial, Industrial and Rail Projects. Lauren has been involved with many different aspects of Fire Engineering in several countries around the world. Through this experience, Lauren has gained valuable knowledge, applying various Codes and Standards

Currently her work for HH Fire is predominantly in the residential sector. This work is very broad in scope including, concept to completion of new build projects and into existing buildings. Since the Grenfell tragedy she has been heavily involved in assessing cladding on existing buildings to assess safety concerns.

John has graduated from the Letterkenny Institute of Technology in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Fire Engineering. John has been working within the fire safety industry since graduation and has over 10 years of experience working within the UK including over 2 years in Ireland.

John has experience in producing fire strategies however is primarily involved in fire safety during the construction stage of residential buildings and undertaking routine fire safety inspections including pre-occupation fire safety assessments. John also has a vast amount of experience of carrying out fire risk assessments in residential buildings to meet the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. As part of this John has carried out non-invasive to invasive surveys and has gained an excellent knowledge in passive fire protection.

In recent times, John has been involved in cladding replacement projects offering support to clients throughout the design and construction stage.

Angus obtained a first class Honors degree in Fire Engineering from Uclan in 2006. Due to his scientific research background, he became involved in Waste fire research as part of a collaborative project with the HSE, ESA, HSL and the EA. This led to his PhD in Fire Engineering entitled Phenomenological Studies of Fires on Recycling Materials in 2022. Along the way he has contributed to the Fire Engineering section of the Waste Industry Safety and Health Forum guidance document 28 and the Fire Prevention Plan guidance. Angus obtained Chartered Waste Management Status in 2018. Angus has shown his commitment to Lifelong learning and held the Chair of the National Trail Blazer for the creation of the Fire Engineering Degree Apprenticeship scheme that was successfully delivered in 2020 having obtained the maximum levy contribution. He has also published a number of papers and articles covering subjects such as toxicity in the built environment and Firefighter tactical approach to tackling waste fires which has seen a dramatic improvement in dealing with waste fires.

The first point of contact delivering professional and focused customer service in a friendly manor. Anneliese holds a wide range of experience from office management, administration and finance whilst maintaining her main responsibility of undertake all personal assistant duties for the Managing Director. Anneliese possesses excellent organisational skills which allows her the ability to multi-task with strong attention to detail to ensuring regulatory obligations and corporate compliance, whilst maintaining sensitive privileged and confidential information.

Gemma started her career in electrical construction as a Service Administrator, progressing in to Project Administration allowing her to focus her skills in organisation and processes. This in turn lead her down the path of financial procedures with involvement in health and safety policies and company structure to acquire knowledge in all areas of the construction world.

Joining the H+H Fire team in June 2021 Gemma is involved in Client Contracts, Internal Policies and the day to day running of the business.

Georgie has extensive experience in client communications and project management, with expertise in organising, streamlining and prioritising projects. Handling the technical administration of EWS1s, the influx of new business and daily client enquiries, Georgie has an oversight of H+H Fire’s extensive body of work and is a key point of contact for clients and colleagues.

Alan graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Risk Engineering in 2015. Whilst enhancing his knowledge Alan obtained a higher national diploma in Architectural Technology which lead to him moving from Scotland in 2018 to join the H+H Fire team.

Alan’s knowledge spans a wide variety of works within H+H Fire, his core focus is carrying out Fire Risk Assessments, conducting site inspections and reviewing detailed design drawings. Alan also undertakes the preparation of Design Fire Strategy reports whilst also being involved in carrying out intrusive surveys of existing buildings and preparing detailed reports on the findings of those inspections with regards to the passive fire protection measures installed.

Trenton graduated from the University of Central Lancashire in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Safety. Shortly after graduating he became a key member of the H+H Fire team in October 2018.

Since joining Trenton has shown a keen work ethic with a desire to enhance his knowledge and experience on all projects that he is involved in and provides the most efficient service to all our clients.

Trenton is extremely motivated and enjoys working as part of a team to ensure the most desirable and efficient end result is achieved for the client and future occupants of any project, he is involved in.

Nicolas is a qualified Fire Safety Engineer with a multi-disciplinary set of fire related skills. He graduated from Ulster University in 2006 with a master’s degree in Fire Safety Engineering.

His 15 year experience includes the design of complex fire detection and fire suppression systems, the production of fire strategy reports for a range of projects across all sectors, conducting fire risk assessments and action plans for residential, large educational premises and healthcare buildings.

In recent years, the need for façade cladding and fire stopping inspections has become part of Nicolas’ routine, from non-intrusive to destructive surveys, Nicolas has obtained a vast array of knowledge of the different fire safety systems.

Nicolas also supports the H+H Fire litigation department and is currently involved in high profile case’s spanning over several years. Conducting in depth inspections and reviews of fire safety design’s including the fire performance of systems. He produces accurate and impartial reports to support clients in court. Nicolas also specialises in the review of fire safety documentation and legal obligation compliance.

Darren has extensive knowledge of the construction industry sector which has ignited his passion and commitment for the past 23 years. He has fine tuned his skills by working on the commercial side of businesses before progressing into project management.

Darren spent 15 years as a Project Clerk of Works focussing on large scale developments across London and the next 6 years as a Senior Projects Clerk specialising in fire compartmentation and external wall design and details.

Joining the H+H Fire team in December 2020 as part of the site inspection department Darren works on EWS1 projects and carries out onsite inspections and investigations.

Dawn started her career training as a legal secretary and moved into the field of construction as a property and construction administrator. During her 8 years of dedication in this line of work she honed her skills in customer service and effectively apply these talents to becoming a successful Credit Controller.

Dawn is responsible for H+H Fire’s day-to-day financial transactions. Raising invoices, statements, resolving account queries, whist ensuring all invoices get paid within the agreed time frames.
